The speckled trout were active today. The major feeding period was from 8 to 10 AM and it was very intense. The bait of choice is live croakers. Trout can not resist them. Free lined over grass and sand is the ticket. Each high tide brings more trout into the bays around Rockport.

The mixed bag of speckled trout and redfish was a treat. A cork and live shrimp will insure a mixed bag and maybe a surprise. Today it was a 4 foot shark. Come to Rockport and spend a day on the bay. Catch some great eating fish and kick back. Bring the whole family on a half day charter (Up to 4 people for $350.00 – weekdays).

Another cool front but the fishing was still good. The speckled trout were cooperative and will taste good tonight. The bait of choice was plastics (5 ” Bass Assassin Cajin Croaker). We will be fishing live croakers soon then watch out. Spring tides are starting and every tide brings more speckled trout come into the bays. I love fishing this time of year. Give me a call and come to Rockport and have a great day on the bay.

The fishing is great in the Rockport / Port Aransas area. Spring has arrived and the big Speckled Trout have arrived. We are catching limits and near limits of big sow trout on bait, plastics, and top waters. The activity continues to improve from Port Aransas to Mesguite Bay and San Antonio Bay. In spite of Cedar Bayou still being closed, (Save Cedar Bayou , call your Congressman and Senator!) Ask them to contact the US Army Corps of Engineers and approve the dredging of Cedar Bayou. This will also help the Whooping Cranes. Give me a call and book a fishing trip while the fishing is hot. (956) 607-7200.
